2017 Di'namik Bouldering Championships Preview | The Front Climbing Club
Last year, the Di'namik saw it's highest attendance of competitors and spectators for one of the best Open Finals we've ever seen. Giant volumes and fresh holds littered the walls and welcomed the best climbers in the United States onto the mats. When the chalk dust settled, it was Alex Puccio and Nathaniel Coleman who took top spots on the podium over a stacked field of competitors.
MALE OPEN1st - Nathaniel Coleman
2nd - Daniel Woods
3rd - Matt Fultz
FEMALE OPEN1st - Alex Puccio
2nd - Nina Williams
3rd - Delaney Miller
Once again, Petzl is partnering with The Front for 2017 and putting up a $10K prize purse. We are sure to see some of the biggest names make their way to Salt Lake City to throw down at this year's Di'namik on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
COMPETITORSIt has been the year of Puccio thus fur. With six victories in six competitions since coming off of neck surgery in June, it seems like it is Alex Puccio's comp to win. However, none of her victories have come easily as at least two of them were decided by falls. Salt Lake City local and Adidas Outdoor athlete Nina Williams is sure to be there and looking to better her performance from last year.
With reigning champion Nathaniel Coleman potentially out due to a recent finger injury, the door could be wide open for a new king to be crowned. Utah native Matt Fultz is currently ranked fifth on the USAC Bouldering National Cup Series and with a slight "home field" advantage could make his way on top of the podium at the end of the night.
SETTERSMike Bockino is the director of routesetting at The Front Climbing Club and will be the chief setter of a tremendously talented crew for this year's Di'namik. Mike is a level 4 USAC routesetter and has been a part of some of the largest competitions on U.S. soil.
